Chapter History

"Spirit of Detroit Chapter of Sweet Adelines International is an organization of women singers, who advance musical excellence in barbershop harmony through education and performance."

- Mission Statement

The Spirit of Detroit Chapter is the product of a merger of the former Farmington Hills and Greater Detroit Chapters on June 17, 1986. These choruses came together with a common goal of improving their singing, performing, education in vocal production, and presenting the barbershop style of four-part harmony.

This chorus is comprised of members from more than 44 Detroit Metro communities and currently rehearses in the Farmington / Livonia area.

Spirit has been a consistent Regional Champion since 1988 and has competed in International competitions held all over the United States.
